Friday, April 23, 2010 - ARTS AND HEARTS:

Come out and celebrate an evening of fun with great activities aimed at raising awareness for some of the great programs in Effingham. Events include a wine tasting, a live art auction, and much more.  Please, scroll down for a complete list of times and activities.

5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

  • Local community organizations will set up on the square and highlight their organizations by providing fun activities and giveaways!  Groups participating include Relay for Life, Central Illinois Honor Flight, Unit 40 Mentoring, 911 Communications, TREC, National Road Association, Arts Connection of Central Illinois, and more!
  • Canstruction® -- the most unique food charity in the world -- will join this year's event.  Local teams will build sculptures out of canned goods, which will then be donated to the Catholic Charities Food Pantry.  Four teams in the community will be participating, and everyone is invited to vote for his or her favorite creation during the event.  Canstruction projects will be located in the Jefferson Street Plaza and Brooms Furniture, both located on Jefferson Avenue.

  • Children of all ages are invited to decorate the sidewalks of downtown Effingham with sidewalk chalk.  Pam Frye  of Frye Pottery will be joining  the children and joining them in decorating the sidewalks in a Jungle theme.
  • Grab a bite to eat while enjoying an evening on the downtown square.  Partcipating restaurants include Martin's IGA, the Firefly Grill, and Homewood Grill.

5:00 pm - 10:00 pm

  • Come sample a variety of wine at this year's wine tasting, sponsored by Lions Distinctive Lines of Effingham.  Nine wineries will participate in this  year's event.  Wine will be sold by the taste,  glass, and bottle.

Other Scheduled Activities

  • 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm – TREC Tricycle races on Fourth Street. Races  will include celebrity races, corporate challenge races, and children's races. Click here to register.
  • 6:00pm – 7:00pm - St. Anthony High School Band will perform in the gazebo.
  • 7:00 pm - A live Art Auction featuring works of art from regional artisans and local ARC consumers will be auctioned off to the highest bidder, with all proceeds going  to the ARC art program.

 

Saturday, April 24, 2010 - Annual Artisan Fair:

Join us for the 5th Annual Artisan Fair with over 35 artisans participating in this year's fair.  Art for sale includes paintings, pottery, sculptures, jewelry and much more.  Other acitivities include a wine tasting, Kids Korner, live demonstrations, and live music.

10:00 am - 4:00 pm  

  • Works of art from regional artisans will be displayed for sale on the Square.  A varity of artwork will be for sale, including pottery, paintings, jewelry, and more!  Over 35 artisans will set up shop at this year's fair!  Demonstrations will also be going on throughout the day, including a demonstration by Blacksmith Bryan Headley.

  • Kids Korner is the newest addition to this year's fair!  Area businesses and organizations will provide activities for children to enjoy during the festival.  Children are invited to come and explore the arts, get their faces painted, bounce in the bounce house, and more!

5:00 pm - 10:00 pm

  • Enjoy live music on the stage in front of Joe Sippers on the corner of Fourth and Section.
  • Bands include: Suns, The Felix Culpa, The Kicks, and All the Day Holiday.
